Harold has nearly 20 diverse years in the Maritime Industry beginning his career in the United States Coast Guard as a Machinery Technician and Boarding Officer on the East Coast and Great Lakes. After his tour with the USCG Harold then returned home to Honolulu, Hawaii as Port Engineer at a local shipyard in Honolulu where was heavily involved in vessel repairs as well maintaining a wide range vessels, and managing various government contracts. Harold has also been involved in vessel construction including ABS classed azimuth drive tractor tugs, and floating drydock built on a marine railway system. Harold has also sailed as chief engineer on an Oil Spill Response Vessel where he was involved in numerous coastal and offshore environmental pollution responses throughout the islands as well as training personnel. Harold has held endorsements as 4000 hp DDE, Tankerman Assistant, STCW, HAZWOPER, holds a diploma in Marine Surveying from Lloyd’s Maritime Academy, and holds an Accreditation with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors.
As a Senior Marine Surveyor with Charles Taylor Marine Technical Services Harold assists owners, underwriters, and other maritime interest with all aspects of protecting their assets. This includes conducting an extensive range of investigations whether it be H&M, cargo, or P&I. Harold also works with clients in mitigating losses by conducting warranty surveys, and providing risk analysis and assessments.
