What made you join Charles Taylor?

I had worked in the oil industry for 10 years, relocating roughly every 18 months to work on a new project. At the time, I was working in Houston and was looking to settle back in the UK. I started to look at what opportunities might be available to me, using the knowledge and experience I had gained. A recruiter suggested loss adjusting (something I had never even considered) and a role with Charles Taylor Adjusting in their Natural Resources team was presented as a possibility. What does your job entail on a day-to-day basis?

I spend a lot of my day understanding technical detail and distilling what matters to insurers. I write a lot of reports and conduct many cost audits and adjustments. There are usually lots of emails to answer too. In any given day I am probably working on 5-10 live claims.

What is your favourite thing about working for Charles Taylor Adjusting?

Working amongst some of the most experienced specialist Natural Resources loss adjusters in the world.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Be patient. Say yes to every opportunity that comes your way. Ask lots of questions. Seek every opportunity to gain more knowledge.

If you weren’t in this role, what would you be doing?

I’d probably still be working on the design and construction of offshore production platforms and subsea infrastructure.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I like to keep active, although these days that mostly involves running around after two little ones and a few DIY projects when time permits. I probably spend too much time watching motor racing and rugby. I often have a property renovation on the go too.
