About This Individual
  • Matthew joined Charles Taylor Hong Kong office in 2006 as a trainee average adjuster after achieving a bachelor’s degree (Hons) in International Shipping and Transport Logistics from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and became an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 2011.

  • During his career in Hong Kong, Matthew worked mainly as an average adjuster, specialised in handling all types of marine hull case instructions from clients based locally and from oversesas.

  • In his past 13 years, apart from dealing with Particular Average, Sue & Labour and Constructive Total Loss claims, etc. Matthew has also assisted the group to handle some large and complex ship casualties involving collision, general average and salvage to support the clients in the region.

  • With his strong technical background in marine, Matthew also assist the group to have handled some yacht claims and pursue cargo recoveries on behalf of the marine underwriters.

  • Matthew has become a regular lecturer/speaker on marine claims related topics at various seminars held for the clients in the Greater China region and Singapore since 2015 after qualified as a Fellow of the British Association of Average Adjusters (AAA) in 2015 through rigorous examinations and is a member of the Examining Committee of the AAA since 2018.

  • From time to time, Matthew has also been invited by international clients to speak at their own seminars held in China and in Asia.

  • He completed secondments in Taipei office in 2011 and London office in 2014 respectively and was transferred to work at Charles Taylor Singapore office since October 2017 as an Assistant Director, mainly assisting with the marine hull average adjusting operation and further business development in the ASEAN region. Meanwhile he maintains key roles to support clients, particularly with Chinese background in the Greater China region and generally in Asia.
