Viewpoint: Trade credit insurers brace for tsunami of claims

In today's Insurance Day article, Roxanne Thornhill discusses the surge in trade credit claims, well in excess of that experienced during the global financial crisis, that is predicted when national government support for businesses is scaled back.

Is this the calm before the storm in respect of trade credit claims? More than six months have passed since the lockdowns resulting from the global pandemic started. The rating agencies have been downgrading companies at a record rate and some countries are formally in recession. All of these factors point to a potential surge in trade credit claims in the near future.
